“New Book #1: Celebrate! Grandmas and Grandpas

Real MVP Kids Celebrate! Grandmas and Grandpas is such a fun addition to the Real MVP Kids line of quality board books! Each page includes a colorful illustration of multicultural families gleaning wisdom for their grandparents.

“We love the rhyming text authors Sophia Day and Megan Johnson have created in this book (as well as all of the other Real MVP Kids books)! They brilliantly weave in proverbs from different cultures and show how they apply to everyday kid life.

“It’s also fun to read the different names the kids call their grandparents, including Sabba, Opa, and Oma among others! This leads to fun discussions of what we call our grandparents and why this may differ from what our friends call theirs.

“New Book #2: Celebrate! The Way I’m Made

Real MVP Kids Celebrate! The Way I’m Made has already become a favorite around here. While it can seem that children’s books celebrating the child’s uniqueness have become ubiquitous and trite, this one avoids any triteness and is truly a delight.

“The illustrations, as always for this marvelous series, are fun and really help the child understand and apply the words to themselves, no matter what they look like.

“And I love the way this book not only talks about the ways children are unique on the outside but also how they are special inside – how they are made to be kind and giving. Something that struck me about this book was how it very clearly communicates that the child was uniquely designed, but it never goes into any details about a Designer leaving that for the parents or caregivers to explain in the way they feel their child will best understand it and in a way that matches their family’s beliefs. I’m sure this was a delicate balancing act for the authors, but I think they accomplished it very well.

“Any of our reviews of Real MVP Kids would be lacking if I didn’t mention my kids’ favorite page. They absolutely cannot get enough of the cast page at the end of each book, giving the names of each child shown in that book. They love these kids and talk about them as friends. They notice who was and wasn’t in each book. And they are beyond excited that one of the kids shares our surname. We seriously spend five minutes on this back page every. single. time. we read these books!

“Here’s a little video we made so that Littlenificent could tell you what she thinks of the books. The little guys are also in it toward the end.”
